I got this article from: http://www.passengertales.com/new/commuter-horror-stories/laway-spit-modus-operandi-in-the-jeep/
Thank God for e-mails like this one because if I haven’t read this, I could have fallen victim to this type of modus operandi. It has happened to me this morning around 8:00am. And believe me, I think there were at least 4 people involved in this type of MO. I was on my way to work this morning when 3 men got on the jeep I was riding (Pasig route) near Samat St. along Shaw Blvd. (before flyover). I just felt something different coz I was sure I zipped my bag after I have paid the fare. (Syet, my bag is very new, given by my friendly friends!!) I noticed that my bag was about 2 inches open already, that's why I became aware of the guys next to me on both sides. When the jeep was at St. Francis, near Sara Lee Building, there was a guy who coughed and spat. I was sure that I did not get spit on me because there was no wind and I saw that he partially covered his mouth when he spat out. Then, I felt the guy on my right side, he moved closer to me and I felt a hard object he took out of his pocket. Now, there was a big, burly man right across me who me gave me the creeps because he was staring at me for the longest time. I noticed I was the only girl in the jeep time, fortunately another woman got in. Then, the man in front of me motioned that I had spit on my hair, simultaneously taking out his hanky, and trying to wipe it off. That set off warning bells for me and I immediately stood up and got off the jeep! I did not think of telling the driver to stop. I just wanted to get off it, good thing the jeepney was still moving slowly. If that were not the case, I'd shudder to think what could have happened considering that I was wearing a skirt and heels. The man who was about to wipe my hair, gave me the evil eye, especially when he saw me ride another jeepney. He saw me talk to the driver while looking at him and my fellow passengers and the driver all turned to look at him. I was sure he knew that I knew what they were about to do to me. I got afraid when I thought that he could come after me. Then, when their jeepney was near the corner of Sheridan Street and Shaw, I saw that the person who coughed and spat when I was in their jeep was the one wiping the hair of the girl that got in before I got off! The ugly men switched roles!! I was not able to shout a warning to the girl that she was being robbed because the jeep that I was on got ahead already. I was shaking with fear because I knew I was supposed to be the victim that time. And the fact that it happened early morning, it's really scary. As in robbers are like employees also. They start robbing people at 8am, gosh! As in you haven't had your coffee yet, you've been robbed already.
